Therapy & Consulting for Children, Adolescents, and Families
Pennington, New Jersey | In-Person & Telehealth
Welcome
Welcome to The Blueprint Approach, created by Kari Lefkowitz Pashman, MSW, LCSW, and Jennifer LeSage, LPC!
We are a mental health counseling and consulting service built by two therapists with almost 50 years of combined experience working with children, adolescents, and their families. We provide solution-focused brief therapy while guiding families into long-term care if needed and/or desired. We designed The Blueprint Approach to help families move forward quickly and confidently, with the right level of support.
Whether your child is struggling emotionally, behaviorally, socially, or academically, we aim to provide guidance that is thoughtful, effective, and timely. Our services focus on children and adolescents, young adults and college students, parents and caregivers, and families navigating emotional, behavioral, and/or school-related concerns.
We recognize that the mental health continuum of care can be confusing, overwhelming, and difficult to navigate. In addition, most outpatient therapists have full caseloads, making it common to wait months for treatment, often keeping children, adolescents, and families in prolonged distress. The Blueprint Approach is designed to help families promptly by providing a holistic assessment, diagnosis, coping skills, and other immediate assistance.
Kari and Jen are here to help, navigate, support, and stand with you as you take the first steps in the mental health continuum of care, and to provide resources to confidently take the next step and, if appropriate and desired, point you in the right direction.
The Blueprint Approach
Clarity. Insight. A Clear Path forward.
At The Blueprint Approach, we have learned that most families already have an emotional toolkit, and we feel privileged to help you pull your strengths to the surface. The Blueprint Approach is grounded in the idea of strengths-based treatment and provides short-term, solution-focused brief therapy. This means that through careful evaluation, clinical expertise, and a personalized approach, we help parents and caregivers uncover the underlying factors affecting emotional well-being, and we help to create a clear roadmap toward healing and growth.
Discovery & Consultation
Our process begins with a 15-minute phone assessment followed by a maximum of 4-6 sessions either in person or via telehealth.
Understanding your concerns and defining goals is critical to mental health treatment. In our practice, the therapist and client get to know each other and work together to develop a treatment plan that includes interventions and anticipated outcomes. We tailor each client’s treatment plan to their individual needs. In step 1, we begin to understand the stressors from a systems-based perspective.
Holistic Assessment
The Blueprint Approach provides an in-depth biopsychosocial assessment, and when appropriate, we collaborate closely with schools, physicians, and other providers to ensure that care is coordinated and effective. Many individuals and families seek help after attempting multiple interventions without clear answers, so our work begins by stepping back and asking the right questions:
-
What is really going on under the surface?
-
What strengths can we build on?
-
What kind of support will truly help?
Another facet of holistic assessment is determining whether the child is the primary client. At times, parent consultation & coaching is the preferred method of treatment. We are here to empower parents and caregivers by giving them the tools to navigate their child’s development. We offer supportive, practical guidance for caregivers.
Stabilization & Skill Building
In this step, concrete skills are developed to ease discomfort. We weave in different therapies such as CBT, DBT, music, art, mind-body work, and empirically based concrete coping skills. The techniques we favor are the ones that clients gravitate towards themselves. Clients will have an individualized treatment plan and can practice utilizing techniques in between sessions.
Through comprehensive assessment and collaborative planning, we create a healing blueprint—a personalized plan designed to guide the next stage of care. This will include a detailed summary of the coping skills gained, future treatment goals, and a list of resources if longer-term treatment is warranted.
Follow-Up & Support
We always schedule a follow-up session in 4-6 weeks, or sooner if needed, to ensure that the supports and resources we have discussed continue to meet your needs.
